Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) combines increased atmospheric pressure with oxygen to significantly enhance oxygen delivery throughout the body. Under pressure, oxygen dissolves directly into the blood plasma, allowing it to reach tissues more efficiently than under normal atmospheric conditions.
Originally developed for medical applications, HBOT is now also being explored in the fields of wellness, sports recovery, healthy aging, and human performance.
How Does HBOT Work?
Inside a hyperbaric chamber, atmospheric pressure is gradually increased while the user breathes oxygen.
This process dramatically increases the amount of dissolved oxygen circulating in the bloodstream, improving oxygen availability throughout the body. Increased oxygen availability supports numerous physiological processes involved in cellular metabolism, recovery, and adaptation.
Areas of Scientific Interest
Current scientific research continues to investigate HBOT in relation to a wide range of physiological processes and potential applications, including:
The strength and quality of available evidence vary considerably between applications. Human-Longevity therefore encourages an evidence-informed approach and clearly distinguishes established medical uses of HBOT from emerging wellness and performance applications.
Why Pressure Matters
Breathing oxygen alone is fundamentally different from breathing oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure.
Pressure allows substantially more oxygen to dissolve directly into plasma, enabling oxygen delivery beyond the normal transport capacity of red blood cells.
Why We Chose HBOT
We selected Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy after years of scientific research, engineering evaluation, and extensive personal experience.
